http://kast%20king%20sharky%20III

In the market for a new reel?

I've been using the Kast Rex Sharky III on some kayak angling trips recently and have been enjoying it.

It's inexpensive, hardy (yet really smooth despite several kayak trips) and has a potent drag organization.

I was going to send in a request for reviews on cheaper reels from companies like piscifun and kastking, simply decided to search the site start. I purchased the sharky Iii as my first inshore reel since I am fairly new to the inshore game and just wanted something cheaper and what seemed to exist reliable. I beloved this reel, it has held upwards very nicely for me. I have come to beloved nigh of kastking's production, they really do seem to put out a competitive product at such a lower toll indicate. I have since got my hands on some more than expensive equipment and still dearest the sharky. Cheers for the review!

Hey Tony, I am not sure if you lot however get alerted when nosotros comment on your older posts only I take this reel (3500) and I similar information technology a lot. Information technology is currently ready up on my 7'6″ med fast penn rod I use for inshore angling. With its really potent drag though, I was thinking about moving it to my surf rod for beach and jetty fishing and upgrading my inshore reel to those fancy Ballistic MQ reels once they are in stock. Or should I keep the sharky on the inshore setup and put a BG MQ on the surf rod?

Hey Mike!

I still have 2 of these reels and they are still smooth as butter. I actually use them as back-up reels or "beater" reels as I like to telephone call them. They can definitely piece of work groovy as surf/jetty reels, especially with the very strong elevate.

I have a 3000 size KK SharkyIII and a SharkyIII allurement feeder, I observe the reels to be terrific, I accept caught Reds, Snook, Trout, and massive size Sheephead. Crawly reel, it is a flake slow in the retrieve, simply I have adjusted well to that. I've had it for about 3 years and it is still going strong I will recommend this reel to anyone who enjoys fishing.

Awesome, same here!

I fabricated this review iii years agone and even so have both reels working smoothly.

Hullo Tony, how has this reel held up over a yr? Would the 3000 be good for bass line-fishing with twenty lb braid? I'thou thinking nigh getting ane for that, I don't exercise it much.

Tony Acevedo

Answer to  Dave Otte

Even so crankin! I used information technology a lot over the past winter for sheepshead and drum around bridges with 20lb line and it worked like a gnaw.

Might be practiced for inshore but don't even think about using one of the bigger ones for surf fishing. They hate the sand and are impossible to accept apart to get clean. I had the Sharky II 6000. Penn Persuit'southward are my economical choice.

Tony, glad to meet the evaluation summary on the KastKing reel. I sounds similar the handle was the likely durability result. The functioning effect was the 5.2 ratio vs the half dozen or 7 ratio reels. At $55 this reel sounds like a pretty good deal. I assume that the handle can be replaced in the futurity but the ratio will never improve. In the video, the redfish did run back at you and you were able to keep upwardly with its run. maybe a 5.2 ratio isn't that bad.

Answer to  Tony Acevedo

I sympathise and appreciate your valued opinion. I will look for reels with a 6 or college retrieve ratio.
